7NEWS Young Achiever Awards
Celebrating the Next Generation of Leaders
The 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards (YAA) shine a national spotlight on the remarkable achievements of young Australians. From grassroots community leaders and social entrepreneurs to innovators, artists and environmental advocates, these awards honour the drive, resilience and creativity that’s shaping the future of our country.
Every year, these awards uncover incredible stories of determination and impact - proof that age is no barrier to leadership, innovation and changing the world for the better.
Why These Awards Matter
The 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards are more than a trophy or a title. They:

Inspire communities by showcasing diverse, positive role models

Encourage young people to dream big and back themselves

Provide recognition and support for initiatives making real-world impact

Build a powerful network of change-makers and collaborators across Australia
My Journey with the 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards
I first connected with the 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards in recognition of my leadership and workplace wellbeing initiatives through my work in mental health advocacy and social enterprise.
These experiences gave me not just recognition, but a platform that allowed me to amplify my mission and connect with a powerful network of like-minded, purpose-driven individuals.
Over the years, I’ve been honoured to be recognised by the Awards multiple times, each occasion reinforcing my belief that celebrating young people’s achievements fuels their momentum and multiplies their impact.

From Social Enterprise to Mindset Coaching
My early recognition through the Awards came during my time as the founder of Linkmate, a social enterprise that connected people to peer support for emotional wellbeing.
That chapter taught me what it takes to turn vision into action along with the personal cost that can come when high performers operate from burnout, perfectionism or unworthiness.
Today, I channel those lessons into my work as a mindset coach for high achievers, entrepreneurs and purpose-led leaders - including those within the 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards community.
My mission with DMT Coaching is to help these extraordinary individuals achieve their goals in a way that’s aligned, sustainable and deeply fulfilling.

"I was feeling a bit frantic with all of the things I was a part of and am always someone that says 'yes' to opportunities and projects. David's input, techniques and questions helped me define my vision, my personality and feel more balanced and connected. Breaking down every segment of my life - work, volunteering, projects, faith, family - looking at all of those areas and understanding where I can better align myself and focus my energy was profound."
- Dominic de Moura McCarthy, Founding Director of Global Institute for Leadership
Winner of the 7NEWS Young Achiever Award (QLD) - Connecting Communities
